Most people don’t have routines. It can be about any kind of routine. But I want to talk about daily routines which can make you feel good, happy and productive.

Morning routines are the key routines. Our wake up hours, time we spend sleeping, and the things we do when we first wake up, shapes our days, weeks, months, and life… Having a healthy, productive morning routine can make you feel better and happier. Well, let’s start by building a morning routine.

1. Wake up at the same time every day

2. Make your bed

3. Drink water upon waking

4. Wash your face and freshen up

5. Strech and meditate for 10 mins

6. Plan your day, journal

7. Play a chill music

8. Go for a walk

9. Listen to podcasts

These are some points that you can follow. But believe me, it helps a lot. Once you try it out, you will see what I mean. In the beginning, it may seem a little bit hard or maybe even much harder to you, but you can give it a try, right? You’re not gonna lose anything. In the end, maybe it will work for you as well. I want to talk about these 10 suggestions to give a better understanding.

Wake up at the same time every day. Waking up at the same time every day helps you to track a routine without even noticing it. Your body and mind will be prepared to a stable wake up hours and that helps you to have a better sleep.

Make your bed. Making your bed, helps you to be organized and clean. That means you are on the right track and it helps a lot to start a fresh morning.

Drink water upon waking. We all know that hydrating is the key of a healthy morning routine. It helps to fight toxins and increase energy level. So, drink water upon waking!

Wash your face and freshen up. Most of us are sleepy in the mornings. We need to “wake up”. I mean we need to wake up our mind and body. Washing your face wakes you up immediately and you feel freshened up once you splash a cold water into your face.

Strech and meditate for 10 mins. This is the most relaxing feeling believe me. I started to stretch and meditate in the mornings a year ago, and I feel absolutely amazing. It gives you the energy that you need.

Plan your day, journal. Planing your day or journaling gives you a better insight of your mind and that helps you to be on track and not to skip what you need to do.

Play a chill music. This is one of my best relaxing routine in the mornings. I play a slow or a chill song while I do my other routines.

Go for a walk. The best thing in the morning is a fresh air and an outside walk. It is one of the most helpful thing to wake you up and feel good.

Listen to podcasts. You might not have time to listen a podcast in the morning if you are going to work or school. But to listen something relaxing, something that helps you to work your brain might be helpful for a healthy and productive morning. You can still listen podcast while you are on the road. That's also a good option.

There are so many other things that can be followed as a morning routine. I would like to mention some of them as well. You can read a book if you feel active enough in the mornings. I can’t. Because I need to have something that will make me energetic not sleepy. Yes, I sleep when I read. So you look at yourself and see which one is the best fit for you. Reading news might be your routine. It’s actually important to catch up on the news every morning. What’s going on in the world or in my country, or neighborhood? It might help you to be prepared and ready for what’s coming. Working out is one of the most followed routines. I don’t, because I don't feel in the mood for a sweaty workout when I wake up. Besides I go to school or work. I prefer to spend my mornings slow, productive, and a little bit energetic, not sweaty energetic… I like to think and reflect on my inner thoughts to myself. But that’s me. As I said, you can try these things and see what the best for you.

How to Maintain Your Routines

It’s as important as creating a routine. Maintaining something is even harder. You think you took the first step and the rest will come, but it usually doesn't go that way. There are some helpful things to maintain your routines.

Write down what you do on a typical day and see your tasks clearly. You know, writing helps a lot than you think..

Remove unwanted activities/things on your schedule. It is better to have a clear, certain, realistic and important things on your planner.

Make enough time for sleep. As I mentioned above sleeping is the most important thing to be productive and to keep up your routines. You should get enough sleep in order to maintain your healthy day.

Have breaks. You should make enough time for breaks in order to continue a better, productive and motivated day. Clear your mind, change your working place, go outside, talk with a friend/stranger. Give yourself a break during the day.

Try your new routine. If you want to follow a different routine or a path or even you are new for this whole “routine” thing, you should give it a try first to see if it’s the right routine for you. Can you really, actually follow it? Try and see if it fits. If not, try something else.

Repeat until you get a routine that works for you.
